Systems are only as good as the information captured in them. To get meaningful reports from your system everyone on your team needs to consistently use the system and use it in a consistent way. Setting standards for what information should be captured, when the information should be captured and how the information should be captured will ensure that you get the most from your system. In Managing Patient Accounts, you will learn what information needs to be captured at each stage of the patient's visit. Doing so keeps staff informed of key details about the patient, the services being provided as well as the patient's insurance coverage and financial responsibility. We recommend that entire business office team take this course to ensure everyone is on the same page. Participants will learn industry best practices for:

| Financial coordinators contribute to patient satisfaction and the bottom line. Most patients chose their insurance policy without reading the fine print. So often the Financial Coordinator is informing them for the first time what their policy covers, what it doesn’t cover and how much it covers. High deductibles and coinsurance amounts are often an unexpected expense. Couple that with the stress of having surgery or another expensive procedure and you’ve got a recipe for misplaced frustration. In Preparing Patients to Pay, you will learn how to estimate and calculate the patient’s portion, industry best practices for notifying the patient and explaining the balance due at time of service as well as guidelines for extending payment plans. We recommend that both new and experienced Financial Coordinators, Insurance Verifiers and Reception Staff take the course. With insurers passing more of the financial burden for care to patients, informing patients of their liability before they have service and gaining a commitment is more important than ever. Past Participants have found the tools available in the course to help them calculate the estimated expense and inform the patient extremely helpful. Participants will learn:

| Payment Posters do more than simply post payments. Or at least they should. According to HFMA, at least 30% of all claims are underpaid by third party payers. Posters should be using the contracts with the insurer to validate the payment and then initiating the next step to fully collect accounts. Making it part of the process reduces the risk of accounts slipping thru the cracks. In Posting Payments, you will learn the key terminology needed to validate payments, get practice calculating the expected payment and learn what to do to ensure accounts get fully paid. We recommend the course for new and experienced payment posters. Past participants found the tools for calculating the expected payment helpful. Plus practicing in a learning environment gave them the feedback and confidence to do it in real life. Participants will learn:
